Did you know that we have special day called “Girl’s Day” or “Peach Festival” to pray for the happiness and healthy growth of young girls in Japan?
It is very surprised to know that only Japan have the event to celebrate the Girls, so that why don’t you enjoy together?
How to celebrate the girls on the day, March 3rd
In order to celebrate and hope for a healthy and successful future for girls, dolls are put on display – sometimes only two small dolls or large seven tiered platforms with many dolls. These dolls are called “Hina-ningyo” and only for decoration.
Besides the dolls, diamond-shaped rice cake, White-sake, Colorful rice cracker, and Peach flower etc. are offered to pray for the happiness.
Nowadays, we eat “Chirashizushi (sushi rice topped with a variety of fish and vegetables) and Clam soup etc..
Every dish has special meaning. If you have chance to enjoy “Girl’s Day” in Japan, please taste those withing the happiness for the girls.

Chirashi-sushi (Sushi rice topped with a variety of fish and vegetables) | It does not have a particular meaning; however, each topping such as prawn, egg, and lotus root are a kind of lucky charms. |
Clam soup | Clam represents a happy couple, and wish for girls to find the right person to spend the rest of their life. |
Diamond-shaped rice cake | Diamond-shaped rice cake have three layered color, and each color has important meanings.
Red (pink) is for protesting from evils, White for purity, and Green for health and long life. It also express the beautiful scene that a fresh green sprout is waiting under snow, and peach blossom is coming next. |
Colorful rice cracker | Colorful rice cracker have four colors, pink, green, yellow and white, and those color represents Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.
They are a symbol of happy fruitful year and wish for a happy life. |
